“How can the same publisher release cozy coastal romance and deeply unsettling supernatural thrillers?”

The answer is actually very simple.

At Palmista Press, genre matters far less to us than immersion.

Whether a story makes readers fall in love with a tropical island…
or question reality at 2AM while staring suspiciously at their phone…

our core publishing philosophy remains exactly the same.

We publish stories readers disappear into.

Palmista Press Is Built Around Immersion

Some publishers focus heavily on trends.

Others focus on market categories.

At Palmista Press, we focus on one central question:

“Does this story pull readers completely into its world?”

That feeling is what matters most to us.

Our Publishing Criteria

Every author we publish must meet three core criteria.

These standards guide everything we do.

1. Immersive Story and/or World

This is non-negotiable.

We look for stories with:

  • memorable settings,
  • compelling characters,
  • and worlds readers genuinely want to return to.

Whether it’s:

Readers must feel transported.

We want fiction that lingers emotionally after the book is closed.

2. Multiple Volumes

Palmista Press is deeply committed to long-form immersive storytelling.

The shortest series we publish are trilogies.

Why?

Because truly immersive worlds need room to breathe.

Readers become emotionally invested when they can:

  • spend time with characters,
  • explore evolving relationships,
  • uncover deeper mysteries,
  • and fully sink into a fictional world over multiple books.

We love the experience of returning to a story universe readers already emotionally inhabit.

Single books can be wonderful.

3. Binge Reading Quality

This may be our most important standard of all.

After finishing a manuscript, we ask ourselves a very simple question:

“Do I immediately want to read the next book?”

If the answer is no, something is missing.

We look for stories with momentum.

Atmosphere that keeps readers thinking about the story long after putting the book down.

The best series create obsession in the best possible way.

Readers should need to know what happens next.
