Even More Solaramo Cay Cover Concepts – Which Direction Should We Take?

 

One thing we've learned at Palmista Press is that publishing doesn't stop the moment a book goes live.

Every cover, every blurb, every piece of artwork is another opportunity to better communicate what readers can expect when they discover a series for the very first time.

A few hours ago, we shared an alternative set of cover concepts for A. Heartwood's Love on Solaramo Cay series and invited our readers to share their thoughts.

The response was fantastic.

So naturally, our design team did what great designers always do.

They kept designing.

Back to the Drawing Board

Inspired by your feedback and by discussions with A. Heartwood himself, our designers have explored yet another direction for the first three books in the series.

This latest collection experiments with several new ideas:

• Brighter, more vibrant tropical colour palettes.
• Covers that place even greater emphasis on Solaramo Cay itself.
• Romantic sunset and moonlit beach scenes.
• Different typography treatments to improve thumbnail visibility on Amazon.
• Alternate concepts that highlight the island as much as the romance.

Some concepts focus on the couples.

Others invite readers to imagine themselves arriving on the island before they've even opened the first page.

Because after all...

Solaramo Cay is as much a character as anyone who lives there.

Which One Feels Like Solaramo Cay?

Designing a cover is always a balancing act.

It needs to communicate genre.

It needs to attract attention.

It needs to look great as a full-size paperback.

And perhaps most importantly...

It needs to stand out when it's only a tiny thumbnail on an Amazon search page.

That's why we're testing different approaches before making any decisions.
