Books First, Everything Else in the Next Chapter

 

Every reader knows the moment. There is laundry waiting, a phone collecting notifications, coffee going cold and a perfectly sensible list of things that should probably be done. Then the book reaches a good part. Suddenly, every other priority becomes tomorrow's problem.

We are not ignoring our responsibilities. We are simply handling them in the correct literary order: books first, everything else in the next chapter. Of course, the next chapter has a habit of becoming three chapters, but that is a scheduling detail.
